COURTSHIP

A simple chronological photographic study series of liquids and their relationships produced January 2012.

Waterproof inks resisting its counterpart and thus dancing elegantly together through the confined space.

No sense of choreography just pure romance.

Or is it just a bit of ink in a water bottle?

THE DEATH OF LITERATURE, 2230 HOURS 29TH OCTOBER 1969.

A suggestive installation instigated by the protective and escapist nature of books produced by myself earlier this year.

This piece was produced by myelf in May/June 2012 and exhibited in July 2012, my initial concept was to look at recycling and the ways in which i could use an obsolete material for another purpose.

I found my self becoming encapsulated within the world of literature, literally and metaphorically due to having such a diverse range of contextual research and a mountain of 900 paperback and hard back books. I new what message i wanted to display, i just wasn't sure how. I found myself having a "Eureka" moment, where i questioned myself, why do people read?

I read to escape what is going on in the real world, to forget about my problems and to allow me even for a brief while to be whoever i want and to be anywhere i want to be. Hence, me creating a repository of books, i built my fort like structure around an illuminated chair; connoting to a person, who is enclosed within the protection and security of books. This is alike the bond formed between me and a novel.

OUTFIT 29/05/2013

RED CHECKED SHIRT (CHARITY SHOP £5)
WHITE T-SHIRT (H&M 3.99)
GREY SKINNY JEANS (H&M £19.99)
WHITE SOCKS ;) (MATALAN 6 PAIRS FOR £5)
NIKE FREERUN 2 (ASOS £80)

First attempt at being photographed, got a bit shy but this is one of my favourite shirts and teamed with neutral blacks and greys it lets the shirt speak for itself and be the focal piece of the outfit.

Love these jeans had them for a little over a year, they are battered and paint covered but thats how i like my jeans, It helps me remember that I am an Artist! I love pairing these Jeans with white socks although a little Michael Jacksonesque I think it helps divide the jeans from the trainers.

Nike Freeruns, hugely recommended so cushty and they look sweet as, they aren't very hard wearing for the price and after just 4 weeks have taken a pounding, but i do wear them a lot so i'll forgive them. Still haven't bought a bad pair of Nikes!

WHY THE NAME?

What on earth is Lerappa?

I sat hear trying to think of a witty name for this blog, Struggling i resurrected an old concept, a t-shirt design i drew up months ago, a brand Apparel but turned on its head, Lerappa. Thats where the name started and it has stuck with me since. With the current upturn in hip-hop trends baggy tees, snapbacks, OFWGKTA and Dunks, the rapping connotation works for me. ..

LETS START AT THE VERY BEGINNING..

I'm pretty new to this in truth so I'll start with the basics...

Ryan Williams, An outgoing, fun loving University Student living in Coventry and from Birmingham.

I am a practicing Artist specialising in Public Interaction, Documentary, Video Installation and Ready Made Construction.

Part-time Bartender, full-time Social Critic and some-time Revolutionary

In terms of the main aims of this blog, I want it to be an outlet for my artwork to be seen but also to show what my eye sees and what I wear.

I have slowly became more and more conscious about what I would wear over the past 18 months starting with my Sneeks then working through to being a full blown clothes addict.

I like my jeans skinny dirty paint ridden and rough looking and pin tied, my tees baggy sleeves rolled, my shirts exotic (hawaiian, floral, aztec, paisley) and my snapback backwards. My prize items are my Trainers. My collection now exceeds 30 pairs, classics, on-trend or down right outrageous - I don't really have set a theme i just buy what i like!
